Module 1

Hi my name is Judy and I am doing the Web 2 course with the CEO. This is my first ever entry to a blog and it was good to learn how to join blogger to post a blog.
I have heard about blogging. I have read blogs. However, I have never known how to post a blog or even how to start one up. I feel happy to be able to get to this blog page and be able to type my thoughts in it.
I may even get used to doing this as I do love writing and soon, it may be the case that you might not be able to stop me chatting!
I am a TAS teacher and am doing the Web 2 course as part of being a 21st Century teacher. I believe that it is of utmost importance that teachers know about the technology their students are using and are comfortable using this technology to engage students in learning.
I was captivated by the video Viral Education 2.0. I have learnt that Web 2 is about interaction with the user, the user being able to control content on the web and being able to share their ideas and knowledge through social networking. Web 1 was rather, just companies and news that told you what was available and what was happening.
Web 2 is you, as the user being able to determine what content is on the web and to be able to post your thoughts and ideas to be shared and commented upon by others, whether it be people you know or people you don't know. Using social networking has its benefits and disadvantages. How authentic is a person's post and to what do they base their ideas or philosophies on?
Where will the World Wide Web lead us in the future and what will it evolve to become, for our young students who are just starting school? How will their lives be shaped and what will their work place be in the future?
Only time will tell and innovations and emerging technologies will replace what is old with new. So what is new now, is only transient. It will change and keep changing as it suits the needs of users.
New ways of thinking, new ways of doing, new ways of being are yet to come for us to see and experience.
A vision into the future is like a shooting star. Where it will land and what it will pass along the way to its destination, is yet to be seen. We do not know what is yet to come. Will it be based on what we already have..... or will be be something that is inconceivable and yet beyond our imaginations? What controls do we have, to make it non destructive in our lives? Do we need controls and if so how much control?  Different cultures, ways of thinking, how can we all come together to share a common ground?
These are some philosophical questions.
